PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE BIO

While earning a Graphic Design degree from Missouri Southern State University in the early 2000s, Kevin worked at a local advertising agency. It was there that he learned the ropes from some very talented and experienced creative professionals. Being immersed in the real-life day-to-day experience of ‘agency life’ was an invaluable experience.

Kevin learned all about setting up design files with bleed in Quark XPress™, matching colors using his PMS swatch booklet, and he became quite a pro at using an X-ACTO™ knife to create realistic printed mockups for client meetings. Kevin was working on ad campaigns, logos, trade show booths, signage, flyers, posters and much more before graduating from the University.

After graduation and a move from Joplin, Missouri to the Nashville area, Kevin landed a new opportunity at another ad agency working as a Designer. As time permitted, he also took on various freelance projects ranging from logo and branding work, to album design, to business website design. Kevin’s personal client list began to grow as he partnered with many businesses from a wide variety of industries.

Over the course of the next 11 years, Kevin worked in the agency environment gaining valuable experience as a Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Art Director and Creative Director. Kevin had the honor of leading a great team of creatives to produce top-notch work in their industry.

In 2014, Kevin met the owner of a Technology Consulting firm, and as a result a new adventure was at hand. Kevin began a transition from advertising to a world of designing new digital projects. His day-to-day work was now meeting with clients and product owners, understanding business goals and transferring that into beautiful user experiences and interfaces for digital products, apps and software for client in healthcare, entertainment, transportation and logistics, banking and many, many more. This transition and time of growth was and is still very valuable in that it really put an emphasis on understanding the end-user, regardless of what is being designed.

Kevin is a ‘human-centered’ designer—meaning that everything he designs (whether a printed piece or a digital product) is ultimately going to be interacted with in some way by a human being—so the design needs to be user-friendly and tell the right story. Whether it is a business card or a mobile app—it makes no difference—the design needs to be so good it does not get in the way of the ultimate purpose of doing the job it is meant to do.
